Winter Tips

Winter driving tips from your friends at Buckeye Collision and Glass:

Winter is a beautiful time of the year, especially when a fresh layer of new snow covers everything. Winter can also be a very dangerous time of the year. If you plan on traveling during the winter, it pays to be prepared for the unexpected.

Check battery and tire tread — special snow tires may help for extra snowy and icy conditions. Check your antifreeze — it should be replaced every two years in most vehicles.
Replace wiper blades — if necessary they should be replaced every six months. Keep the gas tank at least half full — decrease the chances of moisture forming in the gas lines and possibly freezing.
Practice cold weather driving — rehearse maneuvers slowly on the ice or snow in an empty lot. Steer into a skid. Don’t get overconfident with four-wheel drive — it helps you get going quicker but it won’t help you stop any faster.
Leave plenty of room for stopping and brake early — it takes more time to stop when roads are wet or icy. Avoid driving while you're fatigued — Getting the proper amount of rest before taking on winter weather tasks reduces driving risks.
